Supporting the Next Generation of Agriculture Leaders: U of S CAMA Chapter Success

At Hammond Realty, we believe in supporting the future of Saskatchewan's agriculture industry. That's why we're proud to sponsor and stay involved with the University of Saskatchewan's CAMA (Canadian Agri-Food Marketers Alliance) Chapter.

This year, the U of S team competed in the National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA) competition, going up against 27 universities across North America. Representing one of only two Canadian schools in the competition, the team delivered an impressive performance—earning 3rd place overall.

Their project, CropChek, was inspired by PathoScan, a diagnostic technology developed through the University of Saskatchewan's OPUS program. The team built out a full product concept and go-to-market strategy, demonstrating both technical understanding and strong marketing execution.

Beyond the competition itself, the experience provided valuable opportunities for students to connect with peers, gain feedback from industry professionals, and refine their approach to real-world agricultural challenges.

Earlier this year, we had the opportunity to participate in a feedback and critique session with the team. It's always encouraging to see the level of thought, preparation, and ambition these students bring to the table. The future of agriculture is in good hands.

The insights coming out of the team's industry HR survey, a key component of their competition project, further reinforce what matters most to emerging talent in this space. Students are primarily motivated by career growth opportunities, hands-on training, and strong workplace culture. These findings highlight the importance of mentorship, development, and meaningful career pathways within the industry.

As a company deeply connected to Saskatchewan's agricultural community, we're proud to support initiatives like CAMA that help develop the next generation of leaders.

We'd like to congratulate the entire team on their success and look forward to continuing our support in the years ahead.
